Google Doodle celebrates the Paralympic powerlifting event with an animated illustration.

On September 5, Google celebrated the Para Powerlifting event with a special Doodle featuring an animated blue bird lifting a large baguette like a barbell, while a smaller brown bird perched on the baguette enjoys a piece of bread. The background of the artwork is filled with various kinds of bread, creating a playful yet symbolic tribute to the strength showcased in the event.

ara powerlifting, also known as para lifting, made its debut at the Tokyo 1964 Games. The sport was officially included in the Paralympics in 1984, with women's powerlifting competitions introduced at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games. Para powerlifting tests the upper body strength of athletes with various impairments such as cerebral palsy, orthopedic and neurological disabilities, paraplegia, and tetraplegia.

The eligible male weight categories are 49 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, 88 kg, 97 kg, 107 kg, and over 107 kg, while the female categories are 41 kg, 45 kg, 50 kg, 55 kg, 61 kg, 67 kg, 73 kg, 79 kg, 86 kg, and over 86 kg.

The official Google Doodle page reads, “The wait is over, the weights are on. Get ready for today’s Para Powerlifting event at Aréna Porte de La Chappelle!”

This Doodle follows a tradition of Google marking key Paralympic events with engaging and creative artwork.
