Flag Controversy Fuels Navdeep Singh's Victory: Wins Gold in Javelin Throw F41 at Paralympics

India's Navdeep Singh clinched gold in the men's javelin throw F41 at the Paris Paralympics after Iran’s Sadegh Beit Sayah was disqualified for repeatedly displaying an objectionable flag.

Navdeep, a 23-year-old para-athlete from Haryana, initially secured silver with a personal best throw of 47.32m, upstaging China's world record holder Sun Pengxiang. However, his medal was upgraded to gold after Sayah’s disqualification. This marks India's first-ever gold in the men's javelin F41 category. Pengxiang took silver with a throw of 44.72m, while Iraq's Nukhailawi Wildan won bronze with 40.46m.

Sayah, who had set a new Paralympic record of 47.64m, was disqualified for violating International Paralympic Committee rules that prohibit political gestures, resulting in his removal from the final standings.
