Just days into his role as interim head coach for the Jets, Jeff Ulbrich has made a notable adjustment to the team's offense

Ulbrich announced on Thursday that Todd Downing will take over play-calling duties, a responsibility previously held by offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. Despite this shift, Hackett will remain in his role as OC.

"This is more about bringing a different perspective," Ulbrich explained. "It’s not necessarily about better or worse, but about offering a fresh approach. Todd will now have full control over the game plan and play-calling."

Hackett's close relationship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers was a consideration in the decision. Rodgers recently expressed a need for changes, regardless of former head coach Robert Saleh’s departure, acknowledging that the offense has lacked consistency. Ulbrich shared that Rodgers supported the change.

"It wasn’t a shock, considering his long-standing relationship with Nathaniel," Ulbrich said of Rodgers. "They’re very close, but he understood and backed the decision, which I appreciate.
